AAE’s policy advice and research resources, addressed to government, industry and the public, are evidence-based and put the public interest first. The Academy distinguishes between its formal institutional position and the personal views of individual Fellows.

On the policy side, AAE follows the AU’s Agenda 2063 and its supporting instruments, including STISA, CESA and the Continental TVET Strategy, and offers professional advice on those parts that bear directly on engineering.

  • Provide expert advice on engineering-related planning at the AU and member-state level.
  • Offer an independent technical perspective on large engineering decisions in infrastructure, energy, water and digitalisation.
  • Encourage engineering professional bodies to be involved in policy making, not only once projects enter the construction stage.
