AAE provides independent engineering advice to government departments, parliaments and public institutions. Forms of advice include:
- Written submissions or appearances at hearings, by invitation of government.
- Closed Fellows’ round tables on major engineering plans, with a written summary.
- White papers and policy briefs, and stakeholder dialogues that carry the realities of grassroots engineering practice into policy.
- Advice that states the limits of evidence and the uncertainties involved, rather than making predictions beyond professional judgement.
