Engineering is a public profession. The engineering community cannot be drawn from only one gender, one region or one social group. AAE treats diversity and inclusion as part of daily practice, not as a separate communications slogan.
- Take reasonable account of gender, regional and disciplinary balance in the review of Fellows, Industry Researchers and Technical Engineers, without lowering professional standards.
- Support the participation of women engineers at every stage of education and career.
- Pay attention to the growth opportunities of engineers in less developed countries and rural areas.
- Ensure that participants from different backgrounds have an equal voice in every programme and meeting.
- Use respectful and non-discriminatory language in public documents and event materials.
